2009-2018 Ram 1500 Barricade 5″ Oval Bend Side Step Bars – Black Quad Cab, Crew Cab Review & Install

Today I’m here with the Barricade five inch
oval side steps for your 2009 to 2018 RAM 1500. These steps are gonna be for the person that
has a lifted truck, they’re looking to gain ease of access with an easy bolt on and prefer
the look of a black step over a chrome option. This is gonna be your most affordable option
on the site for a five inch step when compared to others at nearly half the cost. Not only are they gonna add to the appearance
of your truck, they’re also gonna add some side protection. They come with a rugged nonslip step, so you
will ensure that you won’t go slipping off. They’re made of heavy-duty stainless that’s
powder coated with welded end caps. So they’re gonna stand up to impacts and resist
rust when compared to other options. At around $200, I honestly think this is the
best bang for your buck as far as a five-inch step goes. As far as install goes, I’m gonna give this
a one out of three wrenches since this can be done in under two hours using simple hand
tools. With that being said, let’s hop into the install. First step, we’re gonna insert our bolt and
nut plates into the body of the truck. This is so we can mount our step brackets
to them. If you have untouched rocker panels, we’re
gonna pull this piece off. You’re gonna get a bunch of dirt in your mouth. Be careful. Then we’re gonna take our bolt plate
and we’re gonna insert a bolt into this end. After that’s done, we’re gonna sneak it through
this hole, and we’re gonna pop it out the bottom right here. After that, we’re gonna take our plastic little
retainer and we’re gonna place that on the bolt. So we’re gonna spin that on. And that’s gonna hold that in place. After that’s done, you can go ahead and remove
this bolt. And we’re gonna do the same thing for the
next two spots. Pull this off. Gonna screw our bolt in. Drop it down in here. Then we can remove our bolt. So now that we have our bolt plates installed
in the body, it’s time to install our brackets. Now, you’ll notice that these brackets are
labeled so you’ll know which ones for which side and then which is for the front rear
and center. So we’re gonna install those using the bolts
and the hardware as provided. So we’re gonna begin with the driver side
front. We’re gonna go ahead and place this on our
stud sticking out and then we’re gonna put a flat washer, a lock washer, and then a nut. This is just a regular nut. It’s not a locking nylon locknut. So once we have that in, we’re gonna swivel
our plate up so we can get a bolt in this other side. We’re gonna use a bolt, a lock washer, and
a washer. We’re gonna screw that into that bolt plate. And we’re just gonna go down the line and
do that for all of them. Next we’re gonna install our driver side rear,
you can notice that it says DR. So now we’re ready to install our additional
supporting brackets that are pinch weld mounted. You can see, there’s two holes here and there’s
a hole in this bracket. So we’re gonna use the skinny bolts that are
provided with a flat washer. And then on the back, we’re gonna use a washer
and nylon locknut. So we’re gonna place this bracket on the back
side, go ahead through there. Get this one bolted on. So to bolt this bracket to this bracket, we’re
going to use one of the larger bolts with a washer and then a washer on the other side
with a nylon locknut. We’re gonna do the same thing for the next
one. Place our bolt through with a washer. Put a washer on the back side and a nylon
locknut. Then we’re gonna install our larger bolt through
this bracket in the other bracket. Place a washer and a nylon locknut on the
back side. We’ll get this last one on and then we’ll
install our step. So now with the help of a friend, you’re ready
to install your step. We’re gonna use the black provided bolts to
bolt these to the bracket. So now that we have everything installed,
we’re gonna go around and tighten everything up. For the larger bolts, we’re gonna use a-13
millimeter socket and a 13-millimeter wrench. And for the smaller bolts in the pinch weld,
we’re gonna use a 10-millimeter socket and a 10-millimeter wrench. After you have all your brackets tightened
down, we’re gonna tighten the step to the brackets. You’re gonna use a 13-millimeter socket. So that wraps up my review and install. For more videos like this, check us out at
