Episode 2 – World’s Best Christmas Lights 2012

Now we couldn’t do this lights show without Coates Hire
because they give us this great cherry picker. It allows us to get to the same height as this
mega-tree pole which is some five metres off the ground. And we have down the bottom here a red inner tree. And we have down the bottom here a red inner tree. A green middle tree, then around the top here we
run pink, blue and white in six different segments. So we can have it chase around the tree then from
the top, as you can see, we run these… So we can have it chase around the tree then from
the top, as you can see, we run these… great stars down to the back roof over here and
to the centre of the roof over there. Some other interesting aspects, you’ve got the wreath that
sits in the middle of the house. and the beautiful custom colour ribbon that runs around
it. And for the first time ever… A great smiley face, which will be animated throughout the tracks that we run. A great smiley face, which will be animated throughout the tracks that we run. In the past we’ve raised money for Shane Warne
Foundation and the Princess Margaret Hospital. This year we’re supporting community sport, particularly Lancelin Ledgepoint Football Club Which is an amateur footy club in a country town that needs some help. Now I’ve had a bit to do with that club, so I thought, lets
put my good work here to work in that little town of Lancelin. It’s an interesting game because we get thousands come
past each night, when the lights are on. This year we’re going to be dark Friday and Saturday nights. And that will hopefully appease our neighbours who are home, because as you
can imagine there are a lot of people in the street. And we’ll be finishing up on the Thursday night before Christmas.
So if you’re coming after that, you will be dissapointed And we’ll be finishing up on the Thursday night before Christmas.
So if you’re coming after that, you will be dissapointed So makes sure you get in early and the important thing to
do is to log onto ‘World’s Best Christmas Lights’ on Facebook. That’s where you’ll get the first knowledge of
anything thats happening, you’ll see these videos. You’ll see the video of the two songs we’re doing this year
and you’ll also be given some behind the scenes peaks. Plus details on when we’re on and when we’re not. So make sure you
join up, make sure you like us: ‘World’s Best Christmas Lights’ on Facebook. I didn’t do Christmas lights last year here in Australia because I got a
gig in South Korea, in Seoul doing an ad for Paris Baguette. They modeled there Christmas lights show they had me
design based on my house here. But this is an amazing tree, it takes so
long to put up, its 1.5km of cabling… and it’s got these metal rings down the bottom
that we actually tether the lights to. So, my wife will spend the best part of two thirds a days up that cherry picker attaching
this sort of stuff and then there is a fair amount of programming that goes with it But it is one of the most spectacular things when its on at night… especially the kids, they wanna run in and jump inside this thing
which is a bit of a pain in the bum… especially the kids, they wanna run in and jump inside this thing
which is a bit of a pain in the bum… …and, yes, we do get some negatives, I remember we had a guy two years
ago who refused to move his car, he’d parked on our neighbours lawn… and got quite angry when we asked him to move his car, so
in the end we just closed the light show down and… told everyone that we’re closing it because of the gentleman in the red
car and he quickly took off and we resumed services thereafter. But mostly, people are great and they love it and they give in terms of dollars
and they bring there kids. It’s just a great fun thing to do.
