Fairfax 275 Celebration – Fairfax County’s Musical Composition “Resolutions” Debuts

This is an anniversary year for
not just Fairfax county this is Fairfax county 275 anniversary
big deal and it also happens to be the Fairfax Symphony 60
anniversary. And here tonight we are going to have the
opportunity to hear the world premiere of a Fairfax County
musical piece that was written by Mark Camphouse professor at
George Mason University and was actually my idea and my request
that as part of the anniversary year that a piece of music be
composed that can tell the story of Fairfax County musically. It
was a great honor to be the recipient of this commission for
the 60th anniversary of the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and
the 275th anniversary of Fairfax county, you are absolute right.
The commission felt just right. Because it incorporates who I am
as a musician and a composer with my genuine love and
fascination of U.S. history. We were approached and asked to
find a suitable commission for a legacy piece to commemorate the
275th anniversary. Mark Camphouse was chosen and who is
part of Masons facutly and is in residency here as a musician,
composer and conductor his piece has been partnered with our
partners, Channel 16 to provide a video to accompany it and it
will work as an ambassadorial piece speaking of our history,
speaking of our hard work, our future.
