Holiday Card Series 2016 – Day 12 (DIY Foil + stamping)

(cheerful holiday music) – [Kristina] Hey
everyone, Kristina here. Welcome to day 12 of the
holiday card series for 2016. I’m going to be using a DIY
foil design that I’m selling in my shop today, and I wanted to show you some
of the other designs that I just added to the shop before I get into the card. My idea behind all of
these is that you could foil them, and then
add your own stamping, or if you wanna do one
that’s completely finished, I have this version
with dots on it. I just thought it
was super cute, and I’m going to show you
how you can take one of these designs, and added
some stamping to it, and some coloring, and
then make it your own. So you can leave
the designs as is, just with the DIY foil, or you can add your own stamping
and make it a little bit more unique to the look
that you’re searching for. So, this is the file
I’m using today, this is the Merry Christmas,
a delicate version, and I’m going to just
use this white one. I printed it out
using my laser printer onto some Bristol paper. I’m going to be using some
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers today, so that is why I’m
using Bristol paper. And I printed that out for, using the side fold PDF that’s
included in the entire kit, and then I ran it through my
ink machine with some gold foil and foiled on those letters. So, if you need
further instruction
on how to do DIY foil, I’m gonna leave a link
up in the top corner, you can go ahead
and check that out. So I’ve added some
(coughs), excuse me, some two inch wide Post-it tape that is on the back of the card, that’s just going to protect
the back of the card while I do some stamping. I’m using an anti-static
powder tool to prep the entire card front. This is going to make it so
that as I stamp all of these flowers and leaves, from
the Winter Flowers stamp set from Simon Says Stamp, that I don’t get any embossing
powder in areas where I don’t want it. So I’m inking up
each of these stamps, and then I’m going to stamp
it down onto the card, and then apply some Hero
Arts white embossing powder. I’m going to do each of
these stamps one at a time because I’m stamping
in VersaMark ink and I can’t see where it’s at, so I have to apply
that embossing powder, and then shake off the excess, in order for me to see
where that image is and therefore I can stamp
another image right next to it. So I’m doing each one of
these images individually until I have all of them
stamped onto this card front. I wanted to mention that, excuse me I’m still getting
my voice back from being sick. I wanted to mention that I
designed these winter flower stamps in the same style as
the Spring Flowers stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. So if you wanted to kinda mix
those two stamp sets together, you definitely could. I think all of the flowers
would look great together. So after I had everything
stamped and coded with some white embossing powder, I used a heat tool to melt
all of that embossing powder until it was smooth and melted. And I made sure that my
heat tool was nice and hot before I brought it
over to my project. So I’m just heating that
up until it’s smooth, and now I’m gonna do
some painting using some Zig Clean Color
Real Brush markers. The awesome thing about
embossing in white and then going over
it with markers, is that you can be
really really messy, you don’t have to be precise, so I’m just slapping on some
color and then using a water brush to spread that out. I’m going to speed this
up and turn on some music, and I hope you guys enjoy
all of the painting. (♪ Christmas Morning

this card really, I’m not going to do
anything else to it, I just wanted to
keep it really simple with that stamping, embossing, and then painting with markers. I think you could change this
color combo up to a million other color combos, maybe
some blue and teal flowers would be really pretty. I’m using my Teflon bone
folder just to press down that fold so it’s nice and flat, and then there is
my card for today. If you would like to check out
these DIY foil kits or files, you can visit my shop at K
Werner design shop dot com, and I will catch you
guys in the next video. (upbeat holiday music)
