USAGov’s #AskMarietta Tips for Black Friday

Hi! I’m Marietta Jelks, the editor in chief
of the Consumer Action Handbook here at USAGov. The holiday shopping season is finally here. We want to make sure you have the information
you need for a successful and safe Black Friday. Read the fine print – Watch for quantity limits
or other conditions that might apply to a sale. You can report any misleading ad to your state
consumer protection office. Compare before you shop – Black Friday often
means that competing stores are selling similar items. Don’t forget to check for differences between
product features, accessories, and quality before you purchase. Beware of hidden commitments – Ask a retailer
if you have to purchase multi-year contracts, warranties, or subscriptions to get an offer. Don’t be pressured into buying additional
services you don’t want or need. For more tips for Black Friday and the rest
of the holiday shopping season, be sure to visit our holiday shopping guide shown here
on the screen. And, you can get on Twitter and tweet #AskMarietta
or @USAGov to get answers to your questions about shopping, consumer issues, and protecting
yourself from scams. Thanks and happy shopping!
